Our volunteers are integral to the working of Nucleus

We have five different volunteer teams you can join, building on your skills and supporting our clients. You will only be able to apply for one of the teams, if you apply for more than one we will not consider you for any of the teams. 

Unfortunately due to the nature of our work we cannot offer volunteering to anybody under the age of 18 and you need to be able to commit to 1 day a week for a minimum of six months.

All our roles offer training and support throughout. You need to be fluent in English, strong communication skills, be proactive, hardworking, punctual and committed to learning.

Advice Volunteers RBKC
Working in our Earl’s Court Office, you will triage clients in person, during the Drop-in’s and on the phone, referring them to the relevant specialist teams or in some instances supporting clients who need more support in generalist advice, housing and welfare benefits.
You will also work in different areas of social welfare, supporting with form filling, white good applications and some administrative tasks.  
Advice Volunteers Ealing
Working on the Ealing Advice Telephone Triage Lines, you will  be the first point of contact for the residents of Ealing. The role is an integral part of the service to assist the most vulnerable. The service is fast-paced and hugely in demand. You will be giving advice on social welfare law matters and progressing cases via the advice line; finding out and interpreting relevant information and exploring options and recording clear, accurate case records.
Debt Advice Volunteer
Debt law encompasses other areas of law including housing law, consumer law and social welfare law. We offer training in debt advice, an excellent environment to expand your knowledge of debt advice work solving rent arrears cases, credit card debts cases, council tax debt cases and other areas of debt law. We offer compressive training in debt advice and you will be working within our dynamic debt team. Please note for this team you will need to be able to commit to 2 days a week minimum.  
Housing Advice Volunteer  
We are a small fast paced team running a supervised Quick Advice session dealing with are evictions, possession, homelessness, unsuitable accommodation and disrepair. It would be desirable to have some knowledge in Housing Law but not essential, training will be provided. Preferably a Law Degree with an ability to grasp legal concepts quickly. We offer compressive training in housing advice and you will be working within our dynamic housing team and supporting the caseworkers with their caseloads. Please note for this team you will need to be able to commit to 2 days a week minimum, with one of those days being a Monday.  
Front Desk & admin Volunteer.
Support Nucleus Legal Advice and other local and national charities, including MIND, Age UK and MENCAP  to run our front desk access. Assisting with daily administrative tasks, welcoming and assisting clients, and maintaining a professional and welcoming reception area. Use your skills in Microsoft Office, organization, and communication to make a positive impact on vulnerable community members. Help run digital access services, our foodbank and triage for advice surgeries.
